Wardrobe Malfunctions, Part 3: The Hat

Sid is the victim in part three of the Wardrobe Malfunction series. His wardrobe malfunction is of a different nature and brings with it some nostalgia.

Sid has a well-loved and hand-me-down hat. This hat was "Grandpa Lloyd's" hat before he died and Sid has since adopted it and helped it feel loved and appreciated after Sid's great-grandpa passed away. We have a family history of skin cancer on both sides of our family, so we are a little paranoid about the sun. We require sunscreen and/or a hat (one of our large family pictures shows my kids all pasty-white and everyone else's nice and tan...but I think I am the only one who noticed) and Sid is amazing at getting his hat on before we even ask. The hat began its journey in our family when Sid was two years old and is now so loved that it requires replacement. It has been stitched back together a few times and no longer has any fabric that can be stitched together. We may have to save this memento forever, but for now I have yet to find a good replacement and Sid is still wearing it regularly. He is currently completely ignoring the inconvenience of tucking the ragged pieces up inside to keep them out of his face and off his neck (he figured out how to take care of them on his own) and the fact that the gaping hole is not actually keeping much sun out.
