Sumer Veekashin

Sid's first assignment in second grade was to write about his summer vacation (or sumer veekashin). I thought it was adorable, so here is Sid's version and mine will follow.

We stayed at some very nice townhouses in Eden, Utah with my family. A took a million pictures, so here are just a few highlights.

We played on the beach at Pineview Reservior and Matthew ate tons of sand. His poor little tummy was a bit sick for about a week afterwards.
Austin had a blast with this water squirter and was actually not shooting people at all despite what the maniacal laughter following each squirt would imply.William enjoyed the mud as well, but kept it out of his mouth. The boating was awesome. Sid did an amazing job manning the raft on his own.
Somehow the two biggest troublemakers in my extended family ended up right next to each other in the bunk room. Thankfully they thought it was cool enough in there that they mostly stayed and the bunk kids did pretty good settling down each night. We went for a hike and the kids all crowded into the one little spot we found on the river to throw rocks. This was Matthew's first rock-throwing lesson. (1) Get the rock. (2) Taste the rock. (3) Toss the rock. (4) Have William find you some more.Yes, this is Paul sleeping while William plays a game on his device. I think it's funny. The kids' pool was pretty crowded, but they had a great time playing water games. My brother was sure Matthew wanted to be the amazing flying baby. The big kids were flipping whipping cream into the air and the kids were trying to catch it in their mouths. I don't know how Sid ended up with all the ammo. We went to a petting farm, which my kids loved. This was a baby goat they got to hold.Ellie is two months older than Matthew, but sure had fun pushing his stroller for him.The boys loved sitting on the tractor and pretending to drive it.Matthew first looked at this bunny like he was going to scream, but instead he decided to ignore it and suck his thumb. I guess he IS learning life skills from learning to survive his brothers. All of the kids got to ride on the horse. They also each got to feed it an apple. This was certainly one of their favorite parts. Here we all are together. I am so glad this is no longer the best form of transportation. On the way to Grandma's house we stopped by the Hill Air Force Base Aerospace Museum. The boys loved it there and I felt a bit like the odd girl out at a boy party since Savannah had gone with her cousins.

I think Grandpa might have had more fun than the little boys.Sid is now certain he can't be happy about group pictures. That's really fun to work with.

Of course, he thought the bomb was a really cool idea, so the grins were easy to come by for that.

Since I was the lone girl I had to take a picture of this pretty dress.

Especially since it was made out of a parachute. We had fun at Grandma's house for a couple of days and headed back home!
