Toddlerhood

You always wonder when you are about to have a new baby how the other kids will handle the changes that are about to occur. The toddler that is still so young she doesn't really know the difference adjusts pretty easily (as we experienced when Sid was born and Savannah was only 16 months old). The toddler that won't ever let you touch ANY babies can change into the biggest baby lover in two seconds when he has a little brother (as Sid did when Austin was born). Now we have added a new baby yet again and we were all wondering what Austin would do with a new little person around. Austin has always loved babies and is sure they all belong to him ("my baby!!"). He has always been very soft and careful with babies (even when he still was one) and he has done very well adjusting to our new addition (we hope it stays that way after grandma goes home). He is sure he has claims on holding William whenever he wants, but has been very gentle with him and all his other behaviors have been about the same (he has been asking for crackers a little more than usual, but we can handle that). I wasn't sure if Austin would have a hard time with a new baby in the house, but the following picture pretty much sums up how mad he is at his mom for having a new baby.

I would say that Austin has changed some. He has changed from a baby lover to something more intense...a baby hog.

This is super-cute--how great it is that your kids respond so well to new additions!
