A New Miracle

With doubts about the character and existence of God rampant in our society, many are quick to rationalize the daily miracles we all experience. The knowledge of the Creation has been abandoned for a sketchy theory of evolution, or any of its variations; the divinity of the Son of God has been demoted in the eyes of those claiming Him merely a mortal; the understanding of the Godhead has been skewed to an incomprehensible mass of nothingness, intangible and unapproachable. The philosophies of man have altered and skewed and disgraced the Father and His Son and the magnificent Plan of Salvation.

With that said, I am so very glad that God has graced our family with so many miracles and that we have eyes to see and ears to hear. Yesterday, we had an amazing miraculous experience: the birth of a son. What a miracle that a human life form can be created inside the mother’s womb; that this perfect child began as only two little cells; that each cell know the type of tissue, muscle, organ, or structure it will become; that God, who is the creator and governor of innumerable galaxies, pays close attention to the most miniscule and minute details of a newborn baby. What a miracle!

As I watched the birth of our third son, William, I felt a knowledge of the greatness of God. This new child is certainly a gift from heaven. My breath caught as I watch this little person take his first breath. I heard his first cry and tears came to my eyes. I felt his little hand grasp my finger for the first time, those tiny little fingers barely reaching around mine. I watched him open his eyes for the very first time and saw the innocence that comes with such a pure and precious soul. I felt his strawberry-red hair for the first time and basked in his softness and fragility. How could anyone doubt the existence of God or His creative powers after seeing such an aw-inspiring experience.

What more can you say. Paul has put this perfectly and I am now bawling my eyes out (I think this time I CAN blame hormones for a lot of that). I love you honey!
