We stopped at Legion Lake in Custer State Park for lunch. Since it was the off-season the restaurant was closed and we had their deck area all to ourselves.
Little-horned big horn sheep on the drive.
Bison all over the place, but mostly near the corrals.
These guys are getting a closer look at the prairie dogs.
We also found a herd of wild burro.
And antelope.
There were lots of wild turkeys all over the place. These ones almost became a free Thanksgiving dinner (hence the car in the picture).
We came across some wild children climbing the rocks.
They were really cute wild children.
Some were filling in the cracks.
This is at the entrance of the Cathedral Spires trail head on the Needles drive.
I finally learned how to get good family pictures: mount the camera on a precarious rock-and-cement wall, set the timer, and let the kids laugh at their mom running back and forth into the shot. We got four great shots in a row!! I may be turning away from photographers and just using the timer more often.
This is one of the three tunnels we drove through on the drive.
And the other side of it.
