Spring Break, a Month Late

Better late than never, right?!? Plus, my kids are adorable, so here is a brief review of our spring break last month!

Aquarium

We visited an aquarium that is just down the street from my Mom's house. The kids loved it and we spent quite a while there considering it's small-ish size. I remember when that building was a Smith's and we walked there for elementary school field trips and when it was a Mac's and I had a friend who worked there. I'm old. Too bad. Back to the aquatic adventures.

The kids loved seeing all the different sea creatures and everyone except Matthew touched a stingray (it took some time to convince Savannah that it was okay).

There were some anemones and starfish to pet as well although they were not nearly as impressive as those stingrays.

Austin and William had fun climbing through the fake rocks and structures they had there.

I parked Matthew in front of a big tank full of fish and he started waving at them, then tried to chase them, then realized he was stuck and just watched from his front-row seat.

Matthew and I also posed in front of the penguins. That baby sure is cute (I guess the penguins are, too).

Planetarium

Paul took the older kids to a planetarium with some cousins (Nathan and Jared) and an uncle (Scottman). I wasn't there, but they had a great time and couldn't stop talking about how much they weighed on different planets.

They were very heavy on Mars, which made it difficult to walk.

They were very light on the moon, which made them feel like they were floating.

This was some gizmo-thingy (that's the technical term) that they spent a significant portion of time watching. Austin couldn't get enough of it!

Hogle Zoo

The Hogle Zoo used to be bigger. Either that or I used to be smaller. The last time we were there was five years ago and I remember it being pretty big for Savannah and Sid at the time. Maybe having our zoo at home expanded has given me a different perspective. The Hogle Zoo is currently about the same size as our zoo. That may change after the construction is finished. Speaking of construction...I think William stayed the longest at the tractor exhibit (okay, it was probably a second to the elephant exhibit).

Our group changed multiple times throughout the day as people came and went. This included us, two grandmas (Grandma and Grammie), Grandpa, two uncles (Eric and Scott), two aunts (Brianna and Jennifer), and some cousins (Ellie, Abby, Rachel, and Hannah). We were the stalwart beginning-to-end "we don't live here so we are going to spend as much time as possible" people.

This picture gets to be big because I loved how cute Matthew was with his little cousins. This is him and Ellie checking out some wallabies.
He also liked the monkeys-both the furry kind and the brotherly kind.

Savannah helped out and Sid seemed to want to just hang out with Grandpa.
Austin hitched a ride with Grammie a few (okay, a lot of) times. The funny part was when Paul was pushing Grammie, Austin and William all up the hill.

Austin went down this snake slide about 3,593,219.4 times. It was the coolest snake slide he had ever seen in his life.

Playtime
These cousins were born in March, April, and May of last year. Matthew is the youngest of the three. They sure are cute together.
Grandma recently got new carpet and Matthew couldn't stop cuddling with it. It was so soft and cozy he just couldn't resist.
The awesome slide... ...and fun swing set were just irresistible. The kids had fun trying and even succeeding at flying kites. They went to the elementary school for a bit more space and had a great time! This is how William flies kites, by the way. Thanks for joining my brief tour of our spring break!

That last picture sure does have a lot of different shades of red, doesn't it?
