My little guy likes his thumbs. I don't like that he likes his thumbs. You can't really cut them off when it's time to be done with them. Because of this I have been trying to distract him from his thumbs. I am not so sure it is working. About a month ago, Paul was pulling Matthew's thumbs out of his mouth and they ended up with a nice compromise. I can't seem to find a good compromise myself.
I can't really decide whether I should give up and let it run its course. I haven't let him suck those cute little guys during bedtime or naptime by putting either socks or little mittens on his hands and he sleeps just fine (9 hours solid sleep is his normal night...with socks on his hands). He likes to start chomping on them when he's just playing around on the floor and has the chance or is strapped into his car seat. Sometimes he starts sucking when he gets sleepy and I don't even realize it.
Yeah, I don't realize a lot of things that are going on in my own house. Good mom, huh? I got William to stop sucking his two fingers after about two weeks of sporting stocking-clad hands, but this little guy is still interested in his thumbs after more than a month. I guess I will continue to debate with myself while he continues to be boxed for sleeping.

I LOVE the third picture... It's priceless... Thumb suckers aren't all bad. He may catch a cold at 15 months and stop sucking it all by himself because he can't breath and suck his thumb.
