My sweet baby girl turned 8 on Thursday. It's amazing how she can be so grown up and yet still so small. I guess we will have a few years of that and then I will just have to face it that she is not such a little girl any more. For now, she is STILL a little girl and since my parents still refer to ME as their baby girl (not as often as they used to), I can do that with my Savannah as well. Happy birthday to my sweet silly baby girl!
Savannah requested a panda birthday cake...
...and loved the result!
I LOVED her reaction to her first present. She said "you finished it?!?" with a "I can't believe it" expression on her face. She knew I had been working on a dress for her baptism, but I kept setting it on my table so it looked unfinished as I worked on it while she was in bed or at school. Since a lot of the gathering near the end was uncooperative it was a great reinforcement for me that she was so excited. It was also nice that it ended up being a surprise even though she knew I was making it for her.
She was very exited about her new watch.
Savannah has wanted to throw a "High School Musical" party since my mom gave her a party planner for her birthday last year. I finally decided to bite the bullet and we put together a themed birthday party. This was our first time ever having a birthday party with friends and it went really well.
We had some singing and dancing...
...and some crafts and cupcakes!!
Happy birthday my sweet Savannah!

Ok, I love the cake you made- how did you make it sit up?
It's two rounds stacked together and then the head was baked in my batter bowl which makes it mostly round and then I trimmed it. The arms and legs are cupcakes with the gaps filled in with frosting. Oh, and the ears are just scraps.
