How is it that kids discover the most random things? Is it because they just try a million things in a day, thus increasing their odds of discovery?
Austin often makes discoveries that are old news to us old people, so we say "wow!" and try to act excited and then carry on with life. Today he was telling me all about something cool happening with a balloon he had been playing with and I was not being very enthusiastic about it (plus I was busy with a baby and didn't really want to "come see, come see!!!"). Finally, I went to see what was so exciting and this is what the big deal was:
Guess how this balloon is suspended. I bet you won't get it right. Did you guess yet? Until you make a guess you'd better not cheat and play the video. Okay, now do you have your guess? It is NOT static electricity, if that is what you are thinking.
There is a vent blowing our nice cool air just right so that it lifts up the balloon and holds it in one spot. I think the location of the door frame is assisting in the exact air flow that will make this balloon stay put (it stays if you open the door, but falls if you walk through it). That's pretty cool and I really have no clue how he discovered this one. Good work to my Discovery Boy, Austin!!
