This was a statement from my “Widdo Siddo” at breakfast this morning. It just made me smile and inspired me to write this post. We had our primary program during sacrament meeting this past Sunday, which is always a treat. I love to hear the little kids get up in church and tell us big kids (who think we know everything) a thing or two about the things they have learned and what they know about our Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ. There may be moments where the whole congregation can’t help but laugh, especially when that one child yells into the microphone or the next one gets up and only wants to wave at his/her parents, but the innocence and excitement (and masses of energy in our ward) of these young children is wondrous.
This week’s primary program brought my mind back to a primary program I was involved in when we lived in Logan, Utah. I was serving as the Primary chorister in our ward and the time was fast approaching for the sacrament meeting presentation by the Primary. I remember trying so hard to teach these children the songs for the program so that they would do well for their parents, but the whole time they were teaching me many lessons in faith and understanding. There is one particular song that I remember from this year in primary. The song is called “I Feel My Savior’s Love.” This song brought tears to my eyes every time I heard those children’s beautiful voices singing it. We also had one of the primary presidency members (Aubrey) play a solo on the flute and then play while the primary children sang. I can’t even recall this experience without remembering how wonderfully the music and message of this song touched my heart. For any of you who are not familiar with this song, an audio clip can be found at http://broadcast.lds.org/churchmusic/MP3/1/2/words/74.mp3.
Sunday after church I sat at the piano with Savannah and Sid and we sang primary songs for at least an hour. It was not only fun, but a great way to spend some time on the Sabbath day and really filled our home with joy and peace. I decided that we needed to find the music for the song “If the Savior Stood Beside Me” and sang it with Savannah yesterday (a clip of this song can be found at http://broadcast.lds.org/churchmusic/Primary/PR_IfTheSavior_eng.mp3). As we were getting the kids into bed we received a Sid-and-Savannah rendition of it out of the blue and it was a great way to send the kids to bed. I love primary children and I love primary songs!
If any of you who are in the Primary presidency or who teach in primary or nursery find your way to my blog, I’d like to say “thank you” for all your hard work and your efforts in helping us teach our children about good values, good music, and how to make good choices throughout their lives. Thank you for being a positive influence in the lives of my children.

I have declared a new favorite children's song...and I think it needs to go in the song book. "If The Savior Stood Beside Me" is definitely inspired. I can't listen to it or sing it with the primary children without getting chills or choked up. I can't wait to hear all 11 wards in my stake Sacrament Meetings this fall and winter! :) Loooooove it!
First of all, I want to thank you for updating your blog. I, too, LOVE the primary program. I am the pianist and have loved listening to our little angels sing. Our ward is pretty small (25 kids and not all active) but when they sing they sound like a short Tabernacle Chior. It amazes (and deafens) me every week the passion these kids sing with!!! The spirit in those little voices is amazing. I like that you mentioned "If The Savior Stood Beside Me." That was one that I would tear up with weekly from these amazing children. I just hope these kids understand the true meaning of this powerful song and remember that the Savior is with us and standing beside us. And what a better world it would be if we could share these simple messages with EVERYONE!!! (and thanks for listening to my spill...)
That's the one thing I love about being in primary. They get me all stressed out in class but then I get to listen to their sweet voices sing these amazingly beautiful songs and it makes it better.
So why does the Holy Ghost live in the microwave?
I have no idea why the Holy Ghost lives in the microwave. I think it is because Sid had to find a bedroom for Him if He was going to live in our house, and most of our rooms are already occupied.
"Because I was being silly with that" is Sid's response to that question.
I am so glad that you found my blog! I am in the Primary right now and I am glad to say that our Primary Program is over now! It went surprisingly well. Your kids are getting so big and so cute!!!
oh my gosh that is hilarious. I wish the Holy Ghost lived in my microwave ... then maybe he'd clean it! By the way, your blog is so cute!
