General Conference Take-Home Message

We thoroughly enjoyed General Conference this last weekend. We were pleased to hear President Eyering recite the old adage, “If you can’t say anything nice, then don’t say anything at all.” It is always an easy and good lesson to teach the children. Yet it was interesting to hear Sid’s take-home message from that talk.

After a wonderful day of Conference reports, we gathered together for family prayer and I decided to investigate how well Sid listened to Conference. I asked him, “What did you learn from Conference today, Sid?” Without hesitation, he stated, “If you don't like someone, don’t talk.” Needless to say, we postponed evening prayer until we could control our laughing fits. It is amazing the things that we can learn when we look through the eyes of a child. I’m considering this as my new take-home message from Conference as well. Just don’t take offense if Sid or I seem occasionally quiet.
