Paul put together an Easter basket treasure hunt for the kids. They started off with a note that told them to look out the back door.
They are good listeners sometimes!
Straight out the door was Matthew's basket, which they all helped him locate.
And then he explored what was inside while everyone else continued on the hunt for their own clues.
William's hints were pictures of things around the yard and he was led from one to another until he found his basket on the swing.
Austin had maps of different locations and he was pretty good at tracing the walking paths to figure out where his next clue was hidden.
The final clue told him to look where the dirty dishes were and he could see his basket inside through the window (very clever, Paul).
In the meantime, Matthew discovered that there were eggs hidden around the yard...
...and that they had treats in them. This was his "what are you guys all running around for? I've got chocolate right here" expression. He helped himself while we were still searching for baskets.
Sid's clues were written hints and two of the eggs containing clues were buried underground. With hints like "dig up some potatoes" it was a bit tricky for him to decide which part of the garden to start digging up.
His last clue was to peek through the fence...
...because his basket was hidden on the other side.
Savannah had very cryptic poems to figure out for her clues and she did a better job figuring them out then I had when I looked at them the night before.
She had to pull this rope to get her basket from the other side of the fence.
Dad helped her to make sure it worked out and then showed everyone that there was still some rope hanging on the other side.
So they helped pull it up to discover our family gift of a badminton/volleyball set.
Then they all searched together for more hidden eggs to fill their baskets.
Eggs were even hidden inside tractors!
This was awesome fun that Paul was very clever to think up and meticulously prepare ahead of time. It worked out really well and the kids had a great time. Happy Easter!
