You want a "tomato cake?!?"

Today is Paul's birthday and he decided to be all clever and ask for a "tomato cake."

What?!?

"Of course," he clarified, "I don't want it to BE tomatoes, but I like tomatoes, so I want a tomato cake."

Huh. Thanks for the clarification. How do you make a cake that is like tomatoes? Well this is how:
Turns out he was "kinda kidding."

He told me this after I spent hours trying to put this thing together. I even went out and picked strawberries from the yard for fresh yumminess. I think I am about ready to declare myself officially insane in the cake making category.

It's a jelly-roll cake with a strawberries-and-cheesecakeish filling to resemble the innards of a tomato. I covered it with strawberry jam (which was very drippy, but yummy).
