Blog Slacker

I have been a blog slacker lately. I have two excuses for this that I consider to be quite good reasons to slack on my blog: dirt and sweat.

The dirt is in our back yard and we have been working very hard for more than a month now to lessen some of the quantities of that dirt. I have been spending a lot of my extra time digging up weeds, sprinkler pipes, sod, and working the soil for the garden. Wow. It's a lot of work. We just hope to be able to reap the benefits of our efforts before the summer is over. I really want to be able to play soccer with my little girl in the back yard this year. Maybe we will even have some "after" pictures to go with this "before" picture. It already looks a lot better to those of us who know what the ultimate goal actually is.

The sweat is in my bedroom. It is also known as a treadmill, but seems to produce sweat for some unknown reason. The good news is that I have used it every day except Wednesday--my day for a non-running workout (and even then I have done walks on Wednesday), and have only done little jogs on Saturdays (to go with the sweat that is in the dirt outside). The bottom line is that I have been working hard to run at least 3 miles a day four days of the week and have not missed a day yet. I made it to about 3.5 one day when I was going for a 4-mile run, but then I had to go nurse a baby. That is the hard part. I can run fine, but I still need to balance the rest of my life and other exhausting tasks throughout the remainder of the day as well as staying hydrated enough to be able to feed a baby. I am not a big water drinker, so this one is hard for me.

There are my excuses for now and I hope to have a few good posts up soon!
