I recently learned how to crochet for a Young Women Personal Progress project. This is something I have always wanted to learn, but I never had anyone I dared ask to teach me and I was nervous that I would have a problem with consistency in my stitches (since I am a tightwad). I finally asked a friend to teach me and realized that I am just way too paranoid about my own ability to learn new things. I made some mittens and hats for the humanitarian center for my personal progress project and have continued to enjoy trying new things. I decided to learn how to make baby booties since I know a LOT of people having babies this year. I found a pattern, altered it after the first set looked like baby commando booties, and absolutely LOVE to create little footwear for these new little babies. I also designed a box that I can make that fit these little booties perfectly (it just uses 12" x 12" card stock, ribbon, and stamps). I've made and given away a few pairs of these and am excited to continue making them for all the cute little babies coming to this world!

I've crocheted since I was 13 but I've never dared to try mittens. Yours look adorable! Maybe I should take a cue from you, be brave and give it a try.
And I love the bootie box, what a great idea to package them!
Ooh, can I have the pattern? I've had a hard time finding a good bootie pattern (also the mitten one too?). By they way, they look great!
Those are AWESOME Shelly! I love them! I learned to crochet about 5 years ago and the only pattern thing that is 3-d that I have done is a hat or two. I mostly do wash cloths and baby blankets. So, you are far and above beyond what I can do. I am muy impressed.
Also, did you see my facebook update? We think we've found an answer to Carson's potty training woes. It's called 'encoprisis'. You should check it out. Maybe you are dealing with the same thing. I don't know. Whatever it is,good luck!
Those are such cute booties! You are so crafty, Shelly. I'm a little jealous (righteous jealousy of course ;)
Cherri
LOVE the booties AND the mittens! Both are absolutely adorable! I saw the booties at Christy's shower and meant to tell you (when I saw you next) how cute they were! What a GREAT talent you've learned/developed! Good job.
