This seems to be turning into a running blog, but that is really not the case. I just wanted to report that I ran a 10K race (6.2 miles) on Saturday in Vale, Oregon.

It was a good run with my sister, Julie, and we finished in just under an hour (we made our goal). The big hill in the middle was on a dirt road that had loose rocks and was a little unnerving, but other than that the run went well and I have added another
accomplishment to my list!! Vale is the first Oregon Trail stop that is in Oregon, so there are tons of murals throughout the town celebrating the pioneers and the Oregon Trail.

We ran past a lot of them and it was nice to check out some artwork while getting a run in. We also scored on free stuff since they were giving away shirts and visors from previous events (I ended up with three shirts and four visors for our family). We made it back just in time to meet Paul and the kids for an
Independence Day parade, which the kids really enjoyed.
Since the parade conflicted with the 1 mile kids' fun run we told Savannah and Makayla (my niece who is visiting) that we would make a fun run for them this morning. It was really cute to see them so excited to run a "race."
They finished their mile in 15:32 by sprinting then walking over and over again (it is really hard to tell 6-year-olds to reign it in).
When we got back home they both decided they were dying!

Happy Independence Day everyone!!
